ANDERSON — McDonald County High School students and staff participated in themed spirit days for Homecoming week. The week ended in a football game, performances from various student organizations on the football field, and the crowning of a new homecoming queen.

Monday's spirt day theme was "Wild for Pink Out" where students and staff went all out for Breast Cancer awareness month and then hosted a Pink Out volleyball game.

Tuesday was Wild Safari/Jungle Day. Students and staff got to wear animal prints or come as a wild safari ranger. Afterwards, the school hosted a Soccer Senior Night game.

Wednesday was ¨Wild for Adam Sandler¨ day, students dressed up in their comfiest most uncoordinated outfits.

Thursday was “Wild About You.” Students got to dress up as their favorite teacher or staff member.

Friday was "Wild Like A Mustang"/County Crazy. Students got to dress wild and show their school spirit at the Mustang Football game that was at 7:00 p.m

The week ended in a Homecoming game and a HOCO Hangout, students got to hang out, eat ice cream, and play yard games.

Each day of spirit week, the principals chose a winner for the person who showed the most school spirit during spirit week. The student or staff member who showed the most school spirit the entire week won a prize of $20.

“Winning best dressed made me feel happy. I like dressing up and I put a lot of effort into that costume,” Marie Strader, family and consumer science teacher at MCHS, and a winning contestant, said. “Over 15 years I’ve accumulated a lot of different costumes, so it's nice to wear them again.”

Kylie Kimbrough won homecoming queen. Kimbrough wore a sparkly white dress, and cherry red heels.

“It was very exciting but I would have been just as excited if any of the other two contestants won,” Kimbrough said. “I feel like the students showed a lot more school spirit than they have in the past.”

At the football homecoming game, students and staff showed their Mustang pride. They got to see a performance from the MCHS band, Pom, and the cheerleaders. A HOCO hang out was hosted, it started at 11 p.m. after the game on the PAC patio.
