ANDERSON — McDonald County High School hosted a ¨New Student Breakfast¨ September 27, a tradition at school to welcome new students to the district.
Students got the chance to eat breakfast with their parents at MCHS while they heard about what the district has to offer.
“We had sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, salad, and a pancake that was offered to everyone attending,” Strader said. “We started at 6 a.m. and we were ready to serve by 8:30. There was also 3 hours of grocery shopping we had to do.”
Strader said that the goal of the new student breakfast is to allow new students to feel welcomed and give them an opportunity to hear about clubs and activities.
The MCHS counselors set up the New Student Breakfast.
Strader said that there was an email that was sent out allowing students in the high school to sign up to help with the breakfast.
“It took from like six in the morning to the end of the 2nd hour,” said Mykinley Bice, a sophomore attending MCHS.
Bice said that the new students not only got to meet new people, but they also got to learn about the school.
Many students attended the New Student breakfast and got the chance to eat breakfast with their parents in their new school.
